Are you carrying Islamic Personality ?

Human acts according to the concepts he carries. Actions are the practical reflection of his concepts. He shapes his behavior according to his concepts. It is not the label he carries that characterizes his personality rather it is the concepts he carries which characterizes him.

Many of us have adopted Islam as a religion by birth and our religious practices are mostly limited to various rituals related to birth, marriage, funeral etc. However, our fundamental view point towards life comes from another source i.e. prevalent concepts in the society and the system by which society is governed. Which is in complete contradiction with Islamic teachings.

Unlike any other religion Islam is not a religion, it is a complete way of life. Islamic Aqeedah (creed) is both spiritual and political. It not only addresses issues of worship and ethical actions but also gives comprehensive guidance for all affairs of the society and its governance. This characteristic of the Islamic 'Aqeedah allows all aspects of the life of Muslims to be ordered according to it. Due to the absence of Islamic systems, many Muslims adopted concepts from Kufr sources and this explains why some Muslims can pray five times a day and at the same time support Democracy where sovereignty lies with the people instead of Allah (swt).

The objective of being a Muslim is to become an Islamic personality as commanded by Allah and His Rasul (saw). He becomes an Islamic personality by making the Islamic Aqeedah the basis for his mentality and inclinations and maintaining this criterion. The Islamic mentality is the one that thinks on the basis of Islam, i.e. that takes Islam and only Islam as the general criterion for thoughts related to life. It is not the mentality that is merely knowledgeable or pensive. Rather, the mere fact that a person actually and practically takes Islam as the criterion for all thoughts makes his mentality Islamic. The inclinations are the drives, which motivate man to seek satisfaction, entwined with concepts he has about the things that are assumed to provide satisfaction. These inclinations are the outcome of the vital energy that pushes him to satisfy his instincts and organic needs.

It's a challenge to adopt an Islamic personality in present world cause neither the prevalent concepts nor the systems of the society runs by Islam. Despite being born in a Muslim family and living in a Muslim country we carry many concepts which are alien to Islam due to the absence of Islam in practical manner. In fact many of our fundamental concepts are from Kufr sources and we adopted them as Islamic. For example 'Benefit and Harm' instead of 'Halal and Haram' has become our default criteria for judgement.

The basis for judging whether someone is an Islamic personality is the maintaining of his Islamic Aqeedah and the building of his thinking and inclinations on it. Those who love Islam and want it to be dominant and victorious but do not build their thinking on Islamic thoughts and rules but rather on their own minds, interests or desires, they should be wary of such a deed because it distances them from being Islamic personalities; even if their Aqeedah is intact and even if they were highly knowledgeable of the thoughts and rules of Islam. Islam is an indivisible whole as far as belief and acceptance is concerned. Thus Islam can only be accepted as a whole; relinquishment of a fraction of it is kufr (disbelief).

''Those who deny Allah and His Messengers, and (those who) wish to separate Allah from His Messengers, saying , 'We believe in some but reject other' and those who wish to take a course midway, They are in truth (equally) unbelievers''[150-151: Annisa'].
