What is the meaning of not having harmony between people’s belief and system of society?
(when system doesn’t represent collective thoughts and sentiments then people doesn’t want to follow the rules and they find ways to bypass it. then state wants to enforce upon the people by force then gap between rulers and ruled increase and citizen starts to hate the regime. When people see their sentiments are not respected by the state they become negligent about state’s wellbeing and become selfish (doesn’t want to pay tax) to the point they can become violant .eg. publishing cartoon of prophet (saw). That leads to unstable state.
Capitalist economic system depends on people and governments going into debt and every year it must create enough new loans through the banks so that the people and businesses can continue to repay the old loans. If it fails to create enough new loan then people and business will default on previous loans and go bankrupt and the economy will stall. In other words to create new loans economy must grow by creating new products and services irrespective of population growth. Thus under capitalist system, state is forced to create artificial demand among population so that they keep taking loan to fulfil their unquenchable desires. State ensures an environment where people are not happy with what they have because happy soul doesn’t consume. It pushes “there is only one life” kind of mindset among the population so that they remain ever busy with acquiring the next new thing forgetting the greater purpose of life. Also since capitalist economy is based upon the idea that resources are scarce it creates a competitive mindset among the people who always in competition for more. It makes it too difficult for general masses to acquire a decent life by various means such as high taxation, high price of essential commodities, low wages and so on. So the general masses keeps on working for days on end just to meet their basic needs.
Such a society doesn’t pose a huge problem for those who doesn’t believe in the afterlife. But for a Muslim it poses a huge struggle within him. He sees this world as a temporary travel stop who just want to get enough to fulfil his worldly needs and then move on worshiping Allah to reach Jannah which is his final destination. He doesn’t like spending all of his time running after earning for living or the next new thing. He wants to have a decent life and at the same time he wants time to contemplate and to thank Allah and time for worshiping his lord. But the capitalist society force him away from such a life by ensuring a decent life is too difficult to attain. So he remains busy just to earn his basic living but his heart aches not being able to spend enough time to worship his Lord. He feels alienated and he doesn’t feel contented living under capitalist society.
On the other hand a Khilafah state is geared towards worshiping Allah. What that means is that people’s life will be organised according to the priorities set by Allah. Fulfilling people’s basic need is one of the priorities but not attaining the never ending human desires. So the people’s desire will not be constantly pestered to get more and more. They will be contended with the basic need fulfilled. They won’t be under constant competition in gaining worldly materials so that will take him away from wasting time on things that doesn’t benefit him hereafter. He will have time to contemplate, spend quality time with family and time for gaining knowledge and worshiping Allah. Which goes according to his belief. So he will be contented living in that society. Society and his belief will be in harmony.
